Easy Recipe For Healthy Easter Dog Treats With Turkey

I like to be able to give my dogs treats, especially when I’m enjoying something myself. Whilst I’m munching away on a chocolate egg this Easter, I can indulge my fur babies in some healthy Easter dog treats. Even my girl, who is very fussy, loves these dog biscuits. You can make them at any time of year, of course, but I really liked the Easter themed cookie cutters. So, why not try this super easy recipe too and see how much your pup will love them.

Equipment

  • food processor

Ingredients

  • 250 gr minced turkey I use lean, less than 2%fat mince
  • 150 gr carrot Grated finely or chopped and steamed
  • 40 gr dried cranberry If you don't have cranberry you can use another fruit
  • 1 egg
  • 150 gr rice flour Use any other flour if you don't have rice flour, but you may have to adjust the quantity to get the dough to bind

Instructions

  • Throw all the ingredients except the flour in a food processor and mix until it mushes together
  • Gradually add the flour until you get a dough that you can roll out. If you are using an alternative flour to rice flour, you may need more, or less to reach this point

  • Bake at 170degC (fan assisted) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown
  • Leave to cool

Notes

These Easter biscuits will last up to a week in the fridge. Alternatively, if you leave them for a couple of hours on a very low heat in the oven after cooking them, they become crispy and dehydrated. In this state they can be kept for much longer. Honestly though, it’s unlikely there will be any left after a week:your dog is going to keep pestering you for more!
